Sri Lanka U19 hold India U19 to a draw

The first Youth Test match between Sri Lanka U19 and India U19 played at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium ended in a tame draw with the visitors taking major honours. Sri Lanka U19 resuming their second innings on their overnight score of 235 for 5 went on to make a modest score of 256 in reply to India's mammoth score of 503.

Sri Lanka U19 made to follow on with a deficit of 247 runs managed to avoid an innings defeat thanks to half tons by Sadeera Samarawick­rama and Thilaksha Sumanasiri as they ended with a score of 264 for 9. The two teams will meet in the second Test match scheduled to be played from July 29 to August 1 at the Welagedera Stadium in Kurunegala.
