ACLSL holds seminar on Finance Business Act
The Association of Corporate Lawyers Sri Lanka (ACLSL) organised a very successful seminar on Finance Business Act No.42 of 2011, recently. This is an act to control and regulate non-banking financial institutions and to ensure the liquidity and solvency of such institutions in order to protect the interests of depositors.
The main Speaker was President’s Counsel K. KanagIsvaran and the panellists were President’s Counsel Nihal Fer nando, Central Bank of Sri Lanka Director Non-Banking Institutions Supervision Unit H.M. Ekanayaka and Lanka LOLC Leasing Company Chief Operating Officer and LOLC Group Chief Legal Officer Kithsiri Gunawardana.
The seminar was well attended by company directors, chief executive officers, finance directors and in-house counsels.
By organising this seminar, the ACLSL had attended to a timely need of the society and was able to educate the most important segments of the corporate sector.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka ( CA Sri Lanka) recently recognized Expolanka Holdings PLC and Ceylon Paper Sacks Ltd as Strategic Level training partners.
At a ceremony held recently, CA Sri Lanka President Sujeewa Rajapakse awarded the strategic level training partner certificate to Expolanka’s Head of Group Tax Hisham Mukthar and Head of Group Finance Thamesh Fernando.
Rajapakse also awarded the training partner certificate to Ceylon Paper Sacks Director Finance K. Samarasinghe and Head of Internal Audit (Edna Group) Lakmal Gunarathne.
CA Sri Lanka Chief Executive Officer Aruna Alwis, Students Training and Development Committee Chairman T. Dharmarajah and the committee’s Alter nate Chairman Sanjaya Bandara were also present at the event.
