Grand gesture by honest law enforcement officers

A rare tale of two honest policemen, who had taken trouble to search for the owner of a wallet which comprised Rs 25,000 in cash, was reported from Eravur yesterday.

Police Constables Ratnayake and Ajith, who were attached to the Eravur Police Station, had picked up the wallet while patrolling the area and had handed it over to the OIC. They had requested the OIC to hand the cash over to the owner of the wallet.

The police, who managed to trace the owner of the wallet by the information contained inside it, had made arrangements to hand it over to him last Friday (26). The owner of the wallet had explained that he had lost his wallet while returning from the bank. He told the OIC to express his thanks to the honest policemen who had found his purse for him.
