Initiative to detect the rising epidemic of NCDS

-

Non Communicable Disease (NCDs) are in the spot light these days as they cause more than 30 million deaths annually worldwide.

"Lack of exercise, unhealthy food habits, drinking and smoking are the main risk factors that contribute to NCD's," said Dr.Sanjeewa Malinda, Coordinator Wellness & Health Care of eDoctor Consultations PVT Ltd, at the "Suwa Divi Maga" programme recently held at the Welikada prison, to detect NCD's among prison guards.

"Screening all individuals over 35 years for NCD' is essential as we look forward for a healthy life for a better tomorrow" said Dr. Malinda De Silva, Manager-operations of eDoctor Consultations, as he introduced the programme to the participants.

Dr. Harsha Jayakody, founder and forerunner of eDoctor services, speaking to the media said "Our NCD programme is unique in the sense that we not only provide screening test for NCD' but also provide Life Style modification advise via a multi-disciplinary approach. Unlike usual health checkups, we provide each individual with a computer generated risk prediction for development of NCDs, before they are seen by a doctor."
