Moors record fifth outright win

Moors SC recorded their fifth outright win of the Under 23 Division One cricket tournament with a massive 392 run win over Leo CC in the match concluded at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

The highlight of the final day’s play was a career best knock of 205 by Pabasara Waduge which comprised 14 boundaries and 13 sixes. Pabasara’s unbeaten knock helped Moors SC resuming on their overnight score of 37 for no loss amass a massive 371 for 9 declared.

Leo CC set a daunting task of 458 runs for victory was never in the run chase as they folded up for a score of just 165. Moors SC have so far played six matches and recorded five outright wins.

Tharindu, Pawan guides NCC to innings win

Right arm spinner Tharindu Kaushal with a match bag of 12 for 93 and a knock of 107 by Pawan Devinda helped NCC record an innings and 65 run win over Navy SC in their Under 23 Division One cricket encounter concluded at NCC ground yesterday.

NCC after bowling out their opponents for 104 resuming on the overnight score of 153 for 4 went on to make a formidable score of 258 for 7 declared thanks to Devinda whose knock of 107 comprised five boundaries four sixes and a half ton by Lahiru Madusanka.

Navy SC batting a second time with a deficit of 154 runs fared no better as they collapsed to a score of 89 with Kaushal who ended with impressive figures of 6 for 43 doing the damage.

Army recorded a first innings win over Colts in the Under 23 match concluded at Welisara yesterday. Army resuming on their overnight score of 160 for 6 went on to make 206 in reply to Colts score of 161.
