-

Access Engineering PLC was successful in being awarded the contract for environmental monitoring and related work for the Port Lae Tidal Basin Phase I development project in Papua New Guinea.

The main contractor for this ADB funded US$ 275 million project is M/s. China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd and construction work has already commenced in this respect.

The Project includes the construction of a Tidal Basin (700 m long and 400 m wide) with a dredged depth of 13 m below chart datum, a multipurpose berth (240 m long and 45–50 m wide), and terminal works including all buildings; storage area; roads; and drainage, water, electrical, and sewerage services. The tidal basin and berth are designed to accommodate vessels with an overall length of 200 m, beam of 32.2 m, and fully laden draft of 12 m. Flexibility is built in for extending the berth by another 150 m without incurring dredging cost.

Access Engineering has already mobilized its personnel and other resources at the project site in Port Lae Papua New Guinea.
