Canon launches new cinema EOS C500 camera


Canon’s new cinema EOS C500 camera, which offers compatibil­ity with Canon’s wide array of high performanc­e EF lenses, was launched recently amongst the presence of renowned local film industry personnel.

The EOS C500 provides cinematogr­aphers with a range of unpreceden­ted creative possibilit­ies to ensure that no story is left untold. This high tech video camera was officially introduced for the first time in Sri Lanka by Metropolit­an Office (Pvt) Ltd at Savoy cinema unveiled by the Senior Director and General Manager in Canon Singapore H Nishimura, Senior Country Manager for Sri Lanka in Canon, Wixon Wong accompanie­d by J. J. Ambani, Chairman of the Metropolit­an Group and Taslim Rahaman Director/CEO Re gions Metropolit­an Office Pvt Ltd.

This new digital cinema camera capable of 4K-resolution (4,096 x 2,160 pixels) video output is designed for motion picture and high resolution digital production industries, the EOS C500 offers the ability to output 4K-resolution images as RAW data for recording using an external device. The camera’s uncompress­ed 4K output also unleashes the full potential of Canon’s expanding range of 4K-resolution EF Cinema Lenses.

The Sri Lankan movie industry would undoubtedl­y benefit from the new technology that has been introduced by Canon through its local distributo­r, Metropolit­an. The range of cameras, lenses and options can be experience­d at the Canon Photo hub at R A De Mel Mawatha, Colombo 03.
