CMI to hold knowledge sharing event in August

-

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) – UK’s Sri Lanka Branch announced its fifth knowledge sharing event organised in collaboration with their exclusive knowledge partner, KPMG in Sri Lanka. The event titled “When Margins Matter” will bring together corporate leaders and business managers to discuss the increasingly important topic of margin management on August 7.

The event will i nclude a presentation by Ashvin Vellody, Partner - Management Consulting of KPMG India on the topic followed by an interactive discussion with an eminent panel of corporate leaders and professionals including, Jonathan Alles - Managing Director of Hatton National Bank, Hasitha Premaratne - Chief Financial Officer of Brandix Lanka, Dulitha Perera, Partner - Management Consulting and Kamaya Perera - Director Advisory of KPMG in Sri Lanka.

Commenting on the event, Rohitha Mendis, President of CMI’s Sri Lanka branch said, “Most businesses operate in intensely competitive markets where price is “a given”. Effective cost and margin management is often the only way to profit. Cost management is therefore not just about cost cutting but instead about revisiting cost structures and cost components in a fresh perspective.”

“Our objective of organising this event is to share some industry experiences particularly in sectors such as banking, telecommunication and apparel where margins are most important together with a global perspective on how corporate establishments are tackling the challenge. We believe the session will be useful for businesses across a wider range of industries since revenue and cost considerations impact on almost every business regardless of scale or geography,” Mendis added.
