CWA bargaining aimed at leaving UNP?

- BY YOHAN PERERA

The Ceylon Workers Alliance which contested the Central Provincial Council Elections in 2006 under the UNP is likely to change its stance this year and support the government instead.

Ceylon Workers Alliance Leader M. Sathasivam told Daily Mirror that his party would contest under the UNP only if it were given the chief ministerial nomination.

Mr. Sathasivam said the executive committee of his party has passed a resolution

Our party would contest under the UNP only if we were given the chief ministerial nomination

calling for this demand from the UNP. Asked whether his party would contest on the ruling UPFA ticket, he said his party had yet to decide on its electoral move.

Mr. Sathasivam contested the Central Provincial Council from the UNP ticket in 2006, and was elected to the council.
