Kapurala gets jail sentence for bigamy
A Kapurala at a Devala in Moratuwa who failed to divorce his first wife before marrying another woman was given a sixmonth suspended jail sentence for bigamy
by the Colombo Fort Magistrate.
In addition, he was ordered to pay a fine Rs.1500 by Magistrate Thilina Gamage.
The Colombo Fraud Investigations Bureau (CFIB) informed Magistrate Thilina Gamage that the Kapurala who performed religious rituals at a Devala in Moratuwa had married another woman while not having divorced his first wife.

Meanwhile, the complainant’s father had told police that the Kapurala had lured his daughter with the help of black magic
to know that her husband had concealed the fact that he was married.
