Madiwela Road: A waste of time and money

- PIX & TEXT BY MUDITHA DAYANANDA

Madiwela residents have complained that their tax money had been wasted and that these funds were being spent unnecessarily.

The residents said the Madiwela Praja Mandala Mawatha had sunk not even a year after it was carpeted. It was initially meant to be used by vehicles owned by residents.

They said the road was not suitable for heavy vehicles. Unfortunately due to the renovation work of the KimbulawalaJayawardenapura Hospital Road even heavy vehicles travelled along the Praja Mawatha.

The residents said the road had sunk as it was not suitable for use by heavy vehicles.

“If officials decide to close one road they should decide on other alternative ternative routes. Without deciding on n alternative roads the authorities begin the renovation work,” they said.

The residents said the foolish decisions by the authorities had caused the road to break up and sink. They said the the Government will have to spend a large amount of money to carpet it again.

“We feel that our tax money is being wasted. We hope that the authorities will be more careful in the future,” the residents said.
