Minister Mervyn will join monk in protest fast
A fast was staged by the Chief Incumbent of the Galloluwa Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Temple Ven. Theripehe Siridhamma Thera demanding the immediate attention of the government to the contamination of drinking water affecting more than 5000 families in five villages in the Mahara electorate.
Meanwhile Minister Mervyn Silva who met the fasting Buddhist monk said the issue would be taken up at the meeting that was to be held last evening at the Gampaha district secretariat. He said he was hopeful that a permanent solution would be found then. The minister promised to join the fast if the authorities failed to provide relief to the people.
