Kavindu saves Sri Lanka Under 19

Kavindu Kulasekera cracked his second half ton against the India Under 19 to save Sri Lanka Under 19 in the second Youth Test match which began at the Welagedera Stadium in Kurunegala yesterday.

Kavindu who made 76 in the first game at the Rangiri Dam- bulla Stadium last week followed it up with another dogged knock of 84. The right handed batsman’s knock which came off 180 balls comprised seven boundaries and a six.

Kavindu was also associated in a 71-run stand for the seventh-wicket with Priyamal Per- era which helped his side post a modest score of 212 when they were struggling on 132 for 6.

The wrecker of the home side’s batting was left arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav who ended with impressive figures of 6 for 38. The visiting Indian youth side in reply facing 19 overs

ended the day on 70 for 2. The match will be continued today.
