LTTE SUPPORTER WHO INVADED CRICKET PITCH, AN ATM FRAUD SUSPECT -- CID
CID informed Colombo Chief Magistrate that the LTTE supporter who invaded the pitch at Cardiff grounds in the UK carrying a Tiger flag during the 2nd Semi finals between Sri Lanka and India of the ICC Champions trophy cricket match had obtained a Sri Lankan Passport in the name Yasodaran Sadasaramoorthy on March 8, 2000 and the CID had taken steps to seize that passport.
The CID also said they were seeking Interpol assistance to arrest the third suspect Manimaran, alias Logeswaran, alias Mohan Raj who was wanted over an ATM scam and was evading arrest and residing in a foreign country.
The CID told Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya that the first suspect Anandaruban Kuladeepam had withdrawn over Rs 7.2 million from the ATM machine of a private bank’s Killinochchi branch, while the second suspect Balasubramanium Udayadasan had withdrawn money on 22 occasions from the ATM machine of the same bank’s Peliyagoda branch and withdrawn a sum exceeding Rs 176 million.

Ela, Kandana, Wattala, Borella, Nawalokagama and Thotalanga and the sum withdrawn had exceeded Rs 5 million.
The CID said they were conducting further investigations into the fraud. The first and the second suspects were remanded till August 13.
The magistrate ordered the CID to file their report over the progress of their investigations in court on that date.
The CID had initiated investigations on a complaint made to the CID by U.N.I. Alagan, Manager of the Hatton National Bank, regarding the fraudulent withdrawal of money from the ATM machines of the Bank.
The CID investigations had revealed that the suspects had withdrawn a total of over three billion rupees from several private banks in the country.
The first and the second suspects arrested by the CID had been identified by the CID from the visuals taken from the CCTV cameras fixed in the ATM machine cubicles; and after questioning the suspects the CID had apprehended two other suspects, Ananda Ruban Kuladeepam and Balasubramanium Udyadasan and detained them.
