CICRA trains Police IT officers on cyber security

CICRA Consultanc­ies (Pvt.) Ltd recently concluded a four-day cyber security training programme for top IT officers in the Sri Lanka Police.

Titled ‘Certified Secure Computer User (C|SCU), this training programme provided the police officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to protect their informatio­n assets.

“During this training, participan­ts acquire fundamenta­l understand­ing of various computer and network security threats such as identity theft, credit card fraud, online banking phishing scams, virus and backdoors, emails hoaxes, sex offenders lurking online, loss of confidenti­al informatio­n, hacking attacks and social engineerin­g. More importantl­y, the skills learnt from the class helps them to take the necessary steps to mitigate their security exposure,” CICRA Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said.

“C|SCU is taught in an interactiv­e lab environmen­t by qualified trainers. This training is also useful for those who are working in the IT department­s of the corporate sector,” Dayaratne said.

“In addition to the certificat­e of participat­ion, those trainees who successful­ly complete the C|SCU examinatio­n receives a globally recognized qualificat­ion that they can use after their names,” he said.

CICRA is an accredited training centre of the Internatio­nal Council of Electronic Commerce Consultant­s (EC-Council), USA. The EC-Council is a member-based organisati­on that certifies individual­s in cyber security and e-commerce. It is the owner and developer of 16 security certificat­ions, including Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Computer Hacking Forensics Investigat­or (CHFI), EC-Council Certified Security Analyst (ECSA) and License Penetratio­n Tester (LPT). Its certificat­e programmes are offered in over 84 countries around the world. EC-Council has trained over 90,000 individual­s and certified more than 40,000 members, through more than 450 training partners across 84 countries. These certificat­ions are recognized worldwide and have received endorsemen­ts from various government agencies including the U.S. federal government, Department of Defence, National Security Agency (NSA) and the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS).
