Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) together with Tata Motors, India’s largest automobile company, recently launched the new DIMO Batta Ex2 in Sri Lanka, at an impressive ceremony held at Park Street Mews.

DIMO Batta was conceptualized by TATA Motors based on research done in Sri Lanka, a few years back and the product was launched in India in May 2005. This new vehicle revolutionized the transportation of goods in India by selling 100,000 in just 20 months making history in the Indian transportation industry. TATA Ace has managed to revolutionize the way that goods are being moved in India. In 2006, DIMO introduced the TATA Ace to the Sri Lankan market, rebranding it as DIMO Batta.

DIMO BATTA helped customers to become entrepreneurs in their own right. Employees become employers. Unparalleled savings on transportation enabled them to offer goods and services to customers at a lower price than their competitors. It allowed them to develop their business, their families and their quality of life. DIMO BATTA eventually became a part of their livelihood; a part of their family. An emotional bond resulted between the DIMO BATTA and the entire family. They tend to refer to it as a member of their family.

The New DIMO Batta EX2 is the latest addition to the TATA Small Commercial Vehicles family with exciting looks and excellent performance. It has a sleek exterior look with a stylish clear lens head lamps. The metallic paint and body colored bumpers make the vehicle stand out on the road. The new low effort steering system and mobile charging point allows a long and comfortable drive.

There are a host of other features that have added value to customers of this vehicle that is powered by a reliable 2 cylinder engine coupled with 5 speed gearbox and coming with 13” tires. Tata Motors offers further comfort to passengers by increasing the warranty on this vehicle to 2 years or 60,000 Km.

The success of DIMO Batta is evident with more than 40,000 vehicles on Sri Lankan roads. Post war Sri Lanka has seen a surge in this small commercial vehicle market with volumes averaging 1000+ units per month. DIMO Batta also became part of a variety of Govt Schemes aimed at uplifting the life of people of Sri Lanka.

In addition, the introduction of DIMO Batti and TATA Super Ace has allowed DIMO to extend the superiority and the leadership in the smaller commercial vehicle market in Sri Lanka by offering a wider choice. This range has sold 50000 units in Sri Lanka, the largest by a single brand in Sri Lanka.
