Thanks to Abans, the sponsors of MV Logos Hope’s visit to Sri Lanka, thousands of people from all walks of life, adults as well as children had the opportunity of visiting the largest floating book fair in the world. Over 150,000 people availed themselves of this unique opportunity during the ship’s visit to Sri Lanka recently.

The large crowds, eagerly waiting to board the ship, formed long orderly queues from the early hours of the morning. The entire operation was very efficiently and methodically handled and although large crowds visited the ship, everyone was given a chance to board the vessel. The crew of the MV Logos Hope were very courteous and helpful and handled on-board operations very smoothly along with Abans team.

Apart from the thrill and excitement of many of those who had been on-board a ship for the first time in their lives, specially little kids and school children, they also had the rare opportunity of purchasing books, at extremely reasonable prices, from the widest selection of a variety of books for both adults and children.

The crew of 400, which comprised of volunteers from 45 different countries, conducted various interactive programmes on-board with school children who proved to be very interesting and educational. A canteen on-board the ship where visitors could refresh themselves added to the enjoyment.

While in Sri Lanka, the crew of MV Logos Hope participated in many charitable works in and around Colombo which included visits to elders’ homes and orphanages. They also conducted a free eye screen- ing camp where they provided reading glasses to those who needed them free of charge.

Serving as an ambassador of goodwill and international relations, MV Logos Hope seeks to transform communities via practical help and actions of humanity. Over the past 40 years, GBA Ships have been warmly received in over 500 ports in more than 160 countries, as the ship provides good educational literature and promotes unity in diversity.

Abans unhesitatingly stepped in as sponsors of MV Logos Hope’s visit to Sri Lanka as the company strives to promote its efforts to impart knowledge and education to the youth of our country. Abans has always rallied round to sponsor and promote international sports and recreation amongst the youth of our nation, to encourage them to participate and indulge in meaningful activity.
