Record number of entries for SLIM Brand Excellence 2013

-

Entries for the much awaited 12th SLIM Brand Excellence organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) closed recently with an unprecedented number of entries exceeding 100 comprising local and multinational companies, small and medium-scale entrepreneurs, export companies, international companies, proprietorships, etc. This is a significant increase in numbers when compared to previous years.

Aptly themed ‘Will you be behind the next biggest brand?’ this year’s Brand Excellence is billed to be one of the most grand events of the year.

SLIM inaugurated Brand Excellence Awards in 2002 with the objective of recognizing and motivating exceptional performance of brands or organisations as well as the people behind their success.

Expressing his views on the encouraging response received for the awards this year, SLIM Brand Excellence 2013 Chairman Charitha Jayasinghe said that the response for this year’s awards is a reflection of how well recognised are these awards. “SLIM Brand Excellence not only recognises organisations and brands that have made it to the top but more importantly, encourages organisations to follow the recommended branding process which in turn help them optimise their branding budgets, thereby improve the efficiency of the marketing function,” he added.

Expressing his views on the overwhelming response received for this year’s competition, SLIM President Gamika De Silva said, “Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing as the national body of marketing has been in the forefront in proliferating marketing knowledge and fostering marketing excellence in the country throughout its history that spans over three decades. “It is indeed gratifying to note the increasing emphasis placed by organisations on brand building and we believe that SLIM Brand Excellence will be a stepping stone for Sri Lankan marketers to build brands that are globally sought after,” he added.

For the benefit of prospective entrants, the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing organised a series of workshops in August at SLIM Home. Conducted by Panel of Judges Head Graham Marshall and Project Chairman Charitha Jayasinghe, the workshops were well received with over 300 custodians of the country’s most sought-after brands availing themselves of the opportunity.
