Starline launches hi-tech Yellow-Line range
Starline Enterprises, Ratmalana, a local industry, wellknown for pioneering several new technologies to the manufacture of disposable packaging in Sri Lanka, launched a new product range at the recently concluded Pro-Food/Pro-Pack exhibition held at the BMICH.
The new product range known as ‘Yellow-Line’ range enables the manufacturer to produce disposable packages including yoghurt cups, drinking cups, bowls, trays, plates, etc. at much lower costs than with the use of conventional methods of manufacture.
The hitech coextruded plastic sheet used for manufacture of Yellow-Line range of products, contain a thick filler layer of much lower costs, in between the two outer layers, thus making the product highly cost effective.
The company has decided to pass the entirety of the cost benefit of the new operation to the consumer and accordingly all products in the Yellow-Line Product Range are price at very much lower prices, compared to the conventional White Range.
In addition, more importantly, the product would be environment friendly, since the product is easily recyclable.
Thus the company has also taken the initiative to organise the recollection of used cups, through an associate company, operating under the name and style of Go Green Lanka Recyclers, with the blessings and the support of
the Central Environment Au t h o r i t y and the Waste Management Authority. It is for the first time in Sri Lanka that yoghurt cups and drinking cups are collected for recycling purposes.
A few years back, the company pioneered the manufacture of Multi – Layer yoghurt cups in Sri Lanka. When used for packing of yoghurt, they ensure a longer shelf life, for the yoghurt packed therein and when used to pack other food items, the pack helped in keeping the cool/warmth for a longer time.
With such innovation, the company was not only able to provide an immense comparative advantage to the users of the products but also was able to win several prestigious local and international awards in appreciation. The then Industrial Development Ministry awarded ‘Pioneering Status’ to the product and thereby the company was entitled to several tax and duty concessions.
