May ‘our postmaster’ Nizam attain Jannat ul Firdouse

-

The sudden death of Postmaster M. Nizam came as a great shock and surprise to the people of Matara. He was fondly and endearingly called “our post-master” because he was very close to the people and helped them in numerous ways, both in happiness and in distress.

Whenever a person’s loved one died, they immediately sought his assistance to send the message of bereavement to the electronic media. He was an active member

of many social, ed- ucational and religious organisations and was in the forefront of assisting the people of Matara without any racial bias. He treated everybody alike, whether rich or poor, without an iota of discrimination.

When he was the post-master and chief investigating officer, he discharged his duties with dedication and honesty, with a clean record throughout his nearly forty years of service, winning the encomium of the superior officers.

He was married into the highly respectable family of ‘Haleemas’. He leaves behind his devoted wife, his only talented son - an engineer - and his very active and affable daughter-in-law and two little grandsons.

The vast crowd that was present at his funeral was a clear testimony of his enormous popularity and the love the people had for him.

May the Almighty Allah bless him with Jannat ul Firdouse.
