Union Bank and John Keells ‘B’ in final

Union Bank and John Keells Group “B” advanced to the Final of the 11th Ceylon Cold Stores PLC. Sponsored, “Elephant Lemonade” Trophy, MCA “D” division 50 Overs League Tournament 2014.

The semi-finals were played last week –end and both games were affected by rain and bad light.

Both Semi-finals at Thurstan College grounds were abandoned and were decided on the “bowl-out” contest at the MCA Indoor nets after the matches were abandoned.

Union Bank beat PABC Bank 4/3 and John Keells beat MAS Silueta 4/3.

In the 1st SF on Saturday, the match reduced to 40 overs a side, Union Bank batted first and scored 151 all out 39.1 overs (Prageeth Perera 38, Shalindra Perera 26, Shivantha Kumara 25, S. Amaradasa 2/23, Dinuk Jayasinghe 4/29) ; PABC Bank was 31 for no loss in 06 overs when bad light halted play and no further play was possible.

The 2nd Semi-Final on Sunday was reduced to a 20+20 contest.

MAS Silueta batted first and hammered 183 for 5 in 20 overs (Rumesh Silva 36 not out, Kosala Madushan 28, Mahipa Madusanka 62, Denuka Costa 2/20, P.K. Abeygunasekera 2/43)

John Keells went hammer and tongs and was 158 for 6 in 17 overs when bad light put an end to the match (Ashan Peiris 35, Charith Perera 52, I.Singhawansa 25, M. Ariyaratne 2/20)

The Final will be played this Saturday, December 7 at Thurstan College Grounds, commencing 10.00 am.
