INFINITI RED BULL RACING DRIVER DANIEL RICCIARDO IS COMING TO SRI LANKA
Daniel Ricciardo is to make his first public appearance as an Infiniti Red Bull Racing driver at the Red Bull Show Car Runs in Sri Lanka.
In just a few months, Daniel Ricciardo will step into the current World Championship winning team to drive alongside newly crowned quadruple World Champion Sebastian Vettel for the 2014 season.
Before that, he’s boarding a plane to Sri Lanka for the Red Bull Show Car Runs.
The Aussie’s debut public outing as an Infiniti Red Bull Racing driver is set to bring some characteristic thunder from Down Under as he burns rubber along the streets of Galle and Colombo in Sri Lanka on December 13 and 15 respectively, reaching a deafening crescendo on December 15 at the Colombo Night Race.
With Daniel driving the 2011 Formula One World Championship winning RB7, the Red Bull Show car runs will offer Sri Lankan race fans an close-up and personal taste of Formula One.
These same fans have the opportunity to further engage with the sport and the Infiniti Red Bull Racing team through the ‘Race your way into the Infiniti Red Bull Racing garage’ on line kart fighter game – www.redbull,com/f1sl. Winners will gain exclusive access to the Red Bull hospitality area at the Colombo Night Race, as well as being entered into a draw to win a once in a lifetime prize – a ticket to the Infiniti Red Bull Racing garage at the Malaysian GP in 2014.
For Daniel too, the Red Bull Show Car Runs present a chance to connect with fans from a region of the world with a deep and growing passion for Formula One.
Speaking about the event, Daniel said: “I’m excited to go to Sri Lanka, I’ve never been there before and what I do know about the country is through cricket - they’ve got a pretty good cricket team! I’m looking forward to visiting, seeing a bit more and learning a bit more about the country. In terms of the events, the more fans we see the better and hopefully they’ll be very enthusiastic. I guess some of them have probably never seen a Formula One car before, so seeing the smile on thousands of people’s faces will make me feel like I’ve done my job. That’s what we do these events for - to try to show what goes on in our world and let fans get up close to the car. At a live demo there’s lots of noise and lots of feeling; you feel the vibrations because the car is so close. There’ll be lots of smoke from some burnouts, and hopefully a bit of speed as well, so the fans can see what a Formula One car can really do. Hopefully they will have a great time!”
Daniel has planned a full on itinerary to make the most of his time in Sri Lanka and get to know its culture: capturing unique moments at revered landmarks such as the Galle Fort, Galle Face Green and Independence Square.
