The main aim of publishing the compendium is to share the research findings with the industry, which is a pioneering initiative related to MBA research in Sri Lanka.

Titled MBA-IT Research Compendium 2013, the publication, consisting of 20 summaries of research studies relating to people management, was launched at a ceremony held at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute recently.

“In the past, these research studies, which are very relevant to the ICT industry in Sri Lanka, have largely gone unnoticed. In order to harness the value of such research, rather than letting t hem go unnoticed, Head of CSE Department Dr. Chandana Gamage discussed with me on the possibility of sharing the research with the industry and a wider audience by summarising and publishing them,” said UoM Senior Visiting Lecturer, Kent Ridge (Pvt.) Ltd Director and IPM Sri Lanka Past President Janaka Kumarasinghe.

“We feel that such endeavours will not only motivate the students and their dedicated supervisors but also stimulate creating a research culture which is vital for knowledge creation in Sri Lanka,” Kumarasinghe, who is also the editor of the compendium, said.

Dr. Harsha de Silva, M.P., who was the chief guest of the ceremony, stressed the importance of such research compendium by illustrating an example from China on how they gathered knowledge for their progression. “It’s a very commendable initiative to share research as a compendium,” Higher Education Ministry Secretary Dr. Sunil Jayantha Navaratne, who was the guest of honour, said.
