MORE KITH AND KIN TO THE POLITICAL FRAY

Posters have been put up in the towns and cities of the Western and Southern Provinces by those aspiring to contest the Provincial Council elections even before the dissolutio­n of the two respective councils.

Among them are a large number of relatives of past and present politician­s. In the Western Province, Kaduwela Mayor B.M. Buddhadasa's son Manjula

Buddhadasa is planning to contest the poll under the ruling United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) ticket from the Colombo district.

Late Minister of the UNP government Rupa Karunatila­ke's son Sanjeewa Karunatila­ke will contest the election on the UNP ticket from the Galle district. Also, late

Also, late Southern Chief Minister Amarasiri Dodangoda's son Isuru Dodangoda will join the fray from the same district under the UPFA's betel symbol

Southern Chief Minister Amarasiri Dodangoda's son Isuru Dodangoda will join the fray from the same district under the UPFA's betel symbol.

The UPFA is also planning to include in its fray, Dulshan Padmasiri Kariyawasa­m, the son of former Deputy Minister Noel Padmasiri.

Special Projects Minister Rohitha Abeygunawa­rdane's brother Rohana Abeygunawa­rdane and Transport Minister Kumara Welgama's son Senal Welgama are the others slated to contest the election from the Kalutara district under the betel symbol.

Former Minister Hemakumara Nanayakkar­a's son Tharaka Nanayakkar­a is another aspirant candidate of the UNP list for the Galle district.
