‘HR watchdogs a bunch of deaf and blind bats’

- Melville Perera

Coming in the wake of wide print media publicity on the comments by Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Albert Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith on international interference in a country’s internal affairs at a recent religious ceremony at Beruwala, bold headlines in the media read “US POSES GREATEST THREAT TO PEACE”.

Except this nation with its scepter isle bordering GMT as its sidekick acting like the proverbial pawn, wolf in sheep’s clothing or the camel entering the tent, under guise of democratic treaties, the greater part of the international community cries for peace and resent interference by powerful nations who are extremely smart at destabilising any country.

With the development of technology throughout many nations much to the discomfort of the Global Cop these two once powerful nations are losing their international clout and grip due to its “Guinness Book” record of democratic international killings (justifiable homicides) now surpassing WW II killings.

With such a glaring and visible record of human rights violations the powerful international community should be ashamed at their actions against Sri Lanka for human rights violations which brought about peace after a 30 year internal ethnic war (not an illegal invasion) that devastated the country with some of the international community supporting the enemy under diplomatic immunity.

On this issue alone, it would be pertinent to say that the international Human Rights Watchdogs are a deliberate bunch of deaf and blind bats serving vested interests only.
