No-one believes Central Bank’s economic data!
As mentioned in the editorial of the Daily Mirror of 4th January, the Central Bank should allow its Satistics Division to act independently. This needs to be done for the benefit of the country’s economy. I feel this has to be extended to other departments such as the Census and Statistics Department too.
People don’t trust the Central Bank’s statistics especially regarding the cost of living index and the inflation rate because they always show a rosy picture about the economy, and the people do not feel any economic relief as reflected by its data.
Everybody agrees on the fact that prices of essential food items are very high today. In such circumstances, the question is, for whose benefit are the Central Bank authorities issuing these bogus statistics?
