More complaints are pouring into the Colombo Fraud Bureau against Greenfield Plantations Limited Director Rohan Saman Ratnayake who had allegedly defrauded millions of rupees of investors, police told court yesterday.

Suspect Ratnayake was further remanded by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya yesterday for allegedly defrauding another complainant to the tune of Rs 2.9 million.

SI Wimalasena of the Colombo Fraud Bureau filing a “B” report in court submitted that the suspect Ratnayake had defrauded Rs 2.9 million of the complainant Wanniarachchige Wickramasena of Dematagoda by promising to sell five acres of land to the complainant for the cultivation of coconut.

SI Wimalasena said they checked the account belonging to the suspect in a private bank at Colombo 7 and it revealed that the amount claimed to be paid to the suspect by the complainant had been deposited in the relevant account. He also said there were over five other complaints in the bureau against alleged frauds by the suspect on various people and they sought to remand him until January 23 as investigations were pending.
