BY LAKMAL SOORIYAGODA
Filing a revision application before the Colombo High Court, the Convener of the Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF), Sanjeewa Bandara, pleaded to revoke a bail condition imposed by a Magistrate’s Court banning him from entering the premises of any university in the country.
The Colombo Fort Magistrate on July 15 banned the IUSF Convener from entering the premises of any university in the country as a bail condition in connec- tion with a case filed against him in 2012.
This revision application was filed before High Court Judge Lalith Jayasuriya on his behalf by Attorneys-AtLaw Nuwan Bopage and Upul Kumarapperuma. In his application, the IUSF convener stated that the bail condition imposed on him by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court, his fundamental rights had been violated and moved Court to revoke the said bail condition.
