Jayamal, Shashin, Tharindu, Lahiru help Gurukula MV amass 432

Half tons by Jayamal Wanniarach­chi, Shashin Dilranga, Tharindu Tharaka and Lahiru Chamara helped Gurukula MV Kelaniya amass a mammoth 432 against President’s College Rajagiriya on day one in their Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter played at Kotte.

Jayamal made a 89 ball knock of 91 which included eight boundaries and five sixes while Shashin cracked 74 in 76 balls with 13 boundaries, Tharindu’s 68 comprising 13 boundaries and a six and Lahiru’s half ton had eight boundaries.The match will be continued today.

An impressive bowling figures of 5 for 7 by Sahan Nanayakkar­a supported by a three wicket haul by Chemila Obeysekera enabled St. Peter’s to skittle out Maris Stella for a paltry 47 in the Under 19 match played at Kadirana. Earlier in the day St. Peter’s taking first lease of the wicket made 160 with Kavinda de Tissera making a top score of 50. The match will be continued to- day.
