US Embassy says won’t change Twitter post
External Affairs Ministry on Thursday said it would seek a clarification from the US Embassy regarding the matter.
The US Embassy in Colombo yesterday said it would not change the controversial photo caption posted by the US Embassy in its official Twitter account.
The US Embassy had posted a caption to a photo of US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Michele Sison and US Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes Issues in the Office of Global Criminal Justice Stephen Rapp taken at St. Anthony’s Ground in Puthukudiyiruppu saying that “St Anthony’s Ground - site of January 2009 killing of hundreds of families by army shelling” The Sri Lankan External Affairs Ministry on Thursday said it would seek a clarification from the US Embassy regarding the matter.
When asked whether the Twitter message would be changed, the embassy spokesperson said it would not. A discussion was to be held with External Affairs Ministry representatives touching upon the issue, she said.
