UK minister talks to NGOs on SL

Britain Foreign Office Minister Hugo Swire met several Non- Government­al Organisati­ons including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty Internatio­nal on Thursday and held discussion­s on the human rights situation in Sri Lanka.

In a twitter post, Swire stated

I made clear the importance Britain attaches to continued progress on human rights

“Met NGOs @HRW @AmnestyUK @freedomfro­mtorture @SLcampaign this morning to discuss human rights in

#SriLanka and the impact of our attendance @CHOGM”. “I made clear the importance Britain attaches to continued progress on human rights in SL, including on accountabi­lity.”

He said he also discussed the impact of their attendance at the CHOGM in Colombo last November.
