Rs.20M allocated for Homagama Hospital sewerage repairs
Homagama Hospital sources said yesterday that they had received funds to repair the sewerage system that had been overflowing for the past 11 years.
Acting Director of the hospital Dr. Rasika Liyanage said Rs. 20 million had been allocated by the local government authorities for the repairs in question.
The overflowing sewerage which had been an inconvenience to patients and residents in the area had been overlooked for several years, due to obstructions resulting from various issues at relevant local government offices, despite funds being allocated for the project each year.
Dr. Liyanage said Rs. 50 million had been allocated for the entire project but the hospital would receive Rs. 20 million for the constructions this year. “We hope to start the repairs soon and hope the process would not be obstructed this time,” she said.
Maharagama Municipal Council member Jagath Perera said he hoped the process would be completed this year instead of being postponed again.
