Student pierced by javelin out of danger

The condition of the 17year-old Embilipiti­ya Panamure Central College student who was critically injured when a javelin pierced his face close to the eye was now stable and was recovering, the National Hospital said yesterday.

“The health condition of the student is stable and he has regained consciousn­ess. The part of the javelin lodged in his eye was removed through surgery,” the Hospital’s Nurses Training Officer Pushpa Ramyani Soysa said.

The boy was injured during the school sportsmeet on Thursday.
