Wattala PS Chairman alleges Wattala OIC violated his fundamental rights
The Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman complained to the Human Rights Commission that the Wattala Police OIC had intentionally violated the petitioner’s fundamental rights by not implementing a court order.
The Chairman A.H.M. Naushad by his petition to the Human Rights Commission alleged that some outsiders had attempted to encroach into a property belonging to his family at Percy Dias Mawatha, Wattala.
He asserts he complained to the Wattala Police, and the OIC filed the case No 89245 at Wattala Magistrate’s Court alleging that the chairman had caused a public nuisance by filling the concerned land and had obtained a court order restraining from improving or interfering with the physical status of the land until finalisation of the
When he complained to the OIC he had not taken any action on the matter.

Mr Naushad alleged that after obtaining the court order some outsiders who had come to the land had removed rubble and debris were cut from the land illegally, violating the court order.
He said when he complained to the OIC he had not taken any action on the matter. Therefore the petitioner alleged that this action of the OIC had infringed the fundamental right of the applicant.
The Wattala Police OIC was not present before the Human Rights Commission yesterday to face the inquiry and the case was postponed indefinitely.
