UNP appoints new committee for negotiations
A resolution was passed in last years UNP convention giving all powers to the national leader to negotiate with other parties
A committee comprising of several senior United National Party (UNP) members has been appointed to start a dialogue with other opposition political parties in order to build up a common opposition alliance, party sources said yesterday.
The committee comprises Chairman of the UNP Leadership Council Karu Jayasuriya, General Secretary Tissa Attanayake and MP for Colombo District Wijedasa Rajapaksa, with several other members to be appointed later, and is expected to assist National Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe in negotiating with other parties.

The party had also decided to make all party members to strictly adhere to party policies and to take disciplinary action against those who failed to do so.
