Trishaw plunges down precipice killing one

A resident of Karavita in Badalkumbura, Ratnayaka Mudiyanselage Ajith Kumara died in the incident. They were on their way back from Welimada when they met with the accident.

A trishaw ran off the road and fell down a 250ft precipice at Wewessa on the Badulla-Passara Road in the early hours of yesterday, causing the death of a passenger and serious injuries to the driver and the deceased’s mother.

A resident of Karavita in Badalkumbura, Ratnayaka Mudiyanselage Ajith Kumara died in the incident. They were on their way back from Welimada when they met with the accident.

The trishaw that fell into Wewessa Estate was wrecked. Police on information received from the residents of the area rushed to the scene and admitted the injured to the Badulla General Hospital. Investigations revealed that the driver had lost sight of the bend due to the mist.
