MAJ. GEN. HATHURUSINGHE COMPLETES TENURE AS SF- (J) COMMANDER
Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe who held the office of Commander Security Forces - (Jaffna) for four years relinquished his duties in the post on Thursday as he has been appointed the Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army.
Major General Hathurusinghe adopted his own strategies to narrow the gap between the military and the civilians in Jaffna and received copious support from every soldier irrespective of their ranks.
He laid the foundation to a healthy relationship between the Army and civilians, giving a new vision to Civil-Military Coordination (CIMIC) and took an effort to improve the quality of life of destitute people in Jaffna.
In appreciation of his dedication to humanitarian de-mining, resettlement and rehabilitation and other com- munity services in Jaffna, the Gusi Foundation in Manila awarded him with the Gusi Peace Award in 2010.
Major Hathurusinghe will be succeeded by Major General Udaya Perera, the present Commander of the Security Forces Headquarters (Kilinochchi).
