CIS, Colombo and Lyceum, Nugegoda win openers

Colombo International School (CIS) and Lyceum International School, Nugegoda won the opening fixtures of the under 19 International Schools Basketball Tournament which commenced at the British School basketball court on Monday.

The tournament was organised by the British School in Colombo.

In the opening fixture of the girls segment, CIS defeated Lyceum International School, Wattala by 38 points to 31, having led by 19 points to 18.

For CIS the best shooters were Tyra De Silva with 18 points and Misaki Hatta (11), while Tania Basil (13) and Ravishani Buddhiparada (10) top scored for Lyceum Wattala.

In the Boys Division, Lyceum Nugegoda posted a 43 to 36 win over Elizabeth Moir International. At half time Lyceum held a 21 to 15 point lead.

Viren Samaranayake with 25 points led the scoring for Lyceum, while Joshua Foenander added a further 10 points. For Elizabeth Moir, Shahid Sazlee (12) and Takaharu Higuchi (11) were the best shooters.
