GOVERNMENT TO TAKE QUALITY EDUCATION TO RURAL AREAS : G.L
Addressing meetings held at the Kirama Dhammananda Maha Vidyalaya and Walgammulla Maha Vidyalaya in Mulkirigala, and during a site visit to the Shangri-La Hotel project in Hambantota, Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris, accompanied by MP Namal Rajapaksa addressed issues relating to the vast strides made by rural schools and the ongoing construction of the Shangri-La Hotel.
The Minister stated that the progressive policies of the government under President Mahinda Rajapaksa had contributed immensely to the high standards of education in rural schools, hitherto the preserve of the so-called privileged Colombo based schools.
Prof. Peiris noted that obtaining a quality education for their children remains one of the predominant concerns

By continuing to support the development of primary and secondary schools in the country, that have been identified under a special programme launched by the Ministry of Education on the instructions of the President, Sri Lanka will soon possess a greatly strengthened and much more equitable secondary education system in the future.
