Muhurath Ceremony of “Maharaja Gemunu” held

The Launch of Jayantha Chandrasir­i’s film “Maharaja Gemunu” based on a story of the Mahawansa, took place on Thursday (9) after religious observance­s to invoke the blessings of the triple gem on the film and those acting in it at the Ruwanweli Maha Seya in Anuradhapu­ra.

The Chief Incumbent of the Ruwanweli Maha Seya and Chief Sanga Nayaka of the Nuwara Kalaviya, Ven. Pallegama Hemarathan­a Thera conducted the religious rites before the Muhurath Ceremony which was attended by a large crowd including many of the artists contributi­ng to the film.

The Muhurath Ceremony was later held at a well-known tourist hotel in Anuradhapu­ra. North Central Governor Karunarath­na Divulgane, Chief Minister S.M. Ranjith Samarakone and Special Projects Minister S.M. Chandrasen­a attended the ceremony.

Governor Karunarath­na Divulgane read out the President’s well wishes to those gathered at the occasion.
