Chief Minister Ekanayake aspires to become premier
Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake says that he aspires to be appointed as the next Prime Minister since he is one of the most senior members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).
The Chief Minister told the media at his official residence in Kandy on Saturday that he was confident President Mahinda Rajapaksa would approve his intention if he approached him in this regard.He said he had the right to request for the post of Prime Minister as he was one of the most senior members of the SLFP and had been the Chief Minister of the Central Province three times.
“I have been a trustworthy person to the President and he would never object to my being the Prime Minister of this country. Also, I have all the qualifications for the job,” Mr. Ekanayake said.
