Malaysian engineer’s case: Verdict of death by drowning
While delivering the order at the magisterial inquest into the death of a Malaysian software engineer in a swimming pool of a luxury apartment at Union Place in Colombo, the Colombo Fort Magistrate ruled the cause of death was due to drowning and damage of a coronary artery that supplied blood to the heart.
The Magistrate Thilina Gamage who conducted the inquest into the death of Chan Yee Kong (29), a software engineer attached to a private company in Sri Lanka, maintained that the Judicial Medical Officer who performed the post-mortem examination had ruled the death was due to drowning and damage of a coronary artery.
The 29-year-old Malaysian national was found dead in a swimming pool on January 5 at the luxury apartment complex by the workers of the complex.
