RANABIMA ROYAL WIN NATIONAL BASEBALL TITLE
Ranabima Royal Baseball Club won the National Baseball League championship on Sunday while Old Royal Baseball Club and Sri Lanka Navy were placed first and second runnersup respectively.
Ranabima Royal Baseball Club won the National Baseball League championship on Sunday while Old Royal Baseball Club and Sri Lanka Navy were placed first and second runners- up respectively.
Only the top eight teams of Sri Lanka namely Ranabima Royal, Old Royalist, Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Maroons, Frontiers, DS Knights and Shakthi Baseball Club qualified to take part in this tournament which was held in two groups. Out of the eight teams, only four teams entered the second round matches. Ranabima Royal, Old Royalists, Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy weer the four teams in the second round.
The tournament was conducted over a period of three months by the Sri Lanka Baseball Association under the guidance and advice of President Counsel and president of SLABSA Kalinga Indatissa.
Heshan Premarathne Vice president of SLABSA and first Sri Lanka national baseball team captain Deepal Amarathunga graced the occasion and gave away the awards and trophies.
Champion team received certificates, gold medals and a Rs.50,000/- cash award, while the first and second runners-up also received certificates, medals and Rs. 30,000 and 20,000 re- spectively.

Best fielder - YT Pushpakumara of Sri Lanka Navy - Trophy and Rs.5,000/
Best Pitcher - Saliya Anuradha of Old Royalist Baseball Club- Trophy and Rs.5,000/
Best Hitter - Krishna Hapuarachchi of Ranabima Royal Baseball club - trophy and Rs.5,000/
Most Valuable Player - Krishna Hapuarachchi of Ranabima Royal Baseball Club - trophy and Rs.10,000/-
