Three suspects nabbed for alleged theft
Three suspects who allegedly entered houses in the guise of distributing polling cards for the upcoming provincial council elections and stolen gas cylinders were taken into custody on Friday by the Nawagamuwa police.
The arrested persons were youths between the age of 21 and 23.
The suspects were taken into custody due to a complaint received by the police that the two stolen gas cylinders were being transported in a threewheeler. At the interrogation the police also found another gas cylinder that was stolen earlier and ready to be sold.
At the interrogation the suspects revealed they had seen the two gas cylinders at a garage when they had distributed the leaflets of a provincial council candidate in Kaduwela. The two suspects visited the garage at night and stole the two gas cylinders. The police detected the suspects with the CCTV

A group of police officers including sergeants Sunil 21943, Siam 32199, PCs Bandara 85242, Janaka 74498, Wanasinghe 82601 and WPC 8991, under the supervision of the West–Southern Region, DIG Sumith Edirisinghe, SSP Mervin Wickremasinghe and Nugegoda ASP, Wijitha Gunaratne on the instructions of the Nawagamuwa OIC, Chief Inspector M.L. Mahagedara and under the guidance of the Criminal Unit OIC IP Aloka Bandara Senanayake.
