21 police personnel in Tirappane transferred
Twenty one police personnel of the Tirappane Police Traffic Division including its OIC, six sergeants and 14 constables were transferred to other police stations in the Anuradhapura District on Friday.

SP Senaratne said a different batch of police personnel would be appointed to replace those transferred while a new Traffic Division OIC would be appointed this week.
The police personnel when asked about their sudden transfer said it had been carried out under the influence of a government politician.
They said one of the reasons was the action they had taken against vehicle drivers who during working hours had patronised a liquor restaurant belonging to this politician. However, SP Senaratne rejected the allegation as baseless.
