ASLAM CLINCHES LAFIR POT BLACK SNOOKER TROPHY
Moors SC’s S.H.M. Aslam clinched the M.J.M. Lafir Pot Black Snooker tournament trophy when he overcame K.H. Sirisoma of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority in the final played at the MICH billiards table in Colombo on Saturday.
The match was expected to be a tight finish but Aslam who has much more experience than his opponent Sirisoma, who is a specialist in billiards, won the game with the minimum of fuss.
Earlier in the day in the semifinal encounters Aslam recorded an easy win over Y. Sudharshan of SSC while Sirisoma got the better of M.F. Lafir of the host club MICH.
Sirisoma on his way to the finale got the better of fancied Susantha Boteju of YMCA in a pre-quarter final encounter. In the third place off which was played before the final saw M.F. Lafir of MICH defeating Y. Sudharshana of SSC.

The tournament was organised by the MICH to honour billiards maestro M.J.M. Lafir who was the first Sri Lankan to win a world title in any sport and to commemorate his 40 years of having won the World Billiards title in 1973.
