SOME INTERNAL FRACTIONS TRYING TO DIVIDE THE COUNTRY:WARNASINGHE

- BY AJITH SIRIWARDANA

The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) yesterday introduced an 18 fold programme to defeat what they termed the ‘Geneva Agenda’ of the International community.

UPFA Colombo district candidate for the Western provincial Council elections Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe who compiled the programme said it was the responsibility of everyone to get together and counter these challenges despite political differences.

He said it was the National Movement Against Terrorism introduced by the JHU which paved the way for the victory of the 30-yearold war.

“We were able to end the three decade war within three years. We introduced the Anti-Terrorist National Movement and it helped to win the war. And there had not been any explosions during the last five years. It is the responsibility of all of us to protect the peace we achieved. Now the LTTE Diaspora and LTTE international network had begun their second innings to divide the country. This 18-fold programme introduces how we should get together internationally, economically, politically and socially to defeat these challenges,” Mr. Warnasinghe said.

Mr. Warnasinghe, who is also the JHU National organiser expressed these views at an event held in Colombo where the 18-fold programme he had complied to counter Geneva was launched.

Mr. Warnasinghe said America was trying to isolate Sri Lanka internationally by accusing the country of human right violations, warcrime allegations and impose economic sanctions while trying to intervene in Sri Lanka’s international affairs.
