-

Celltick, a global leader in mobile-initiated commerce, announced that Mobitel, Sri Lanka’s national mobile service provider, has chosen to deliver a unique personalized customer interface for its Android users based on Start. Start, a next-generation Android interface layer, will enable Mobitel to provide a superior experience to its customer base and offer a range of services that deliver high value to them on the start screen of their smartphone.

With Start, Mobitel’s consumers will enjoy fast and easy access to everything that matters to them on the start screen of their device, which in turn can be personalized according to their preferences. Start eliminates the need to browse through screens, menus or folders and offers a personalized experience the minute users wake up their phone.

With Start, users have fast access to 24 apps and a quick view into numerous information sources including social networks, music services and camera functionalities. Start is powered with a backend recommendation engine that is based on big data techniques and utilizes collaborative filtering to provide context sensitive personalized suggestions.

“Mobitel is committed to introducing innovative services to the market. With the penetration of high speed data services and the exponential growth in data consumption, we look to broaden the range of our data-oriented applications to our subscribers,” said Nalin Perera, Senior General Manager – Marketing, Mobitel. “With Start we will be able to offer our customer base an engaging experience and increase brand loyalty.”

“We are glad to be chosen by a leading operator like Mobitel to support them in their mission to introduce innovative mobile services to Android users in Sri Lanka,” said Abraham Punnoose, Managing Director of Celltick India. “We are glad to work with Mobitel to enhance user experience and create an effective channel of communications for them. We are confident that the solution would enhance brand loyalty and create new revenue streams for Mobitel.”

The growing Start ecosystem includes hundreds of themes and plug-ins that are available for download on Google Play. Celltick powers billions of mobile-initiated commerce transactions for virtual and physical goods serving more than 110 million active consumers across 25 countries.
