Robbers arrested at Gangodawila

The Police also seized two Lorries and a trishaw used by the suspects to transport the stolen goods.

A gang of three men who had been carrying out burglaries in pharmacies in the Boralesgamuwa, the Kohuwela and Wellawatta areas by breaking open the doors was arrested by Kohuwela Police during a raid at the Gamsabha Junction in Gangodawila, Nugegoda on Saturday night (19).

During the raid Police seized a large consignment of drugs and medical equipment valued at more than Rs.5 mn and the tools the suspects used to break open the doors.

The suspects were between 59 and 68 years of age and were residents of the Kirulapona and Moratuwa areas, the Police said.

Police said one of the suspects was an office assistant at a government establishment in Moratuwa and another was an owner of a pharmacy.

The suspects are believed to have sold the stolen goods to pharmacies in Pettah at low prices.

The Police also seized two lorries and a trishaw used by the suspects to transport the stolen goods.
