Dimuth Mirissage bags chess championship
Dimuth Oshadi Mirissage of Rahula College Matara emerged the under 14 champion at the all island junior chess championships worked off at Royal College from the April 17 to 20. More than 245 students participated in the under 14 age group this year. As the under 14 champ, Dimuth will represent Sri Lanka at the Asian chess championship to be held in New Delhi and the World junior chess championship to be held in South Africa this year. Dimuth first represented the country at the 3rd Asian Schools Chess Championship held in Sri Lanka in 2007 where he won the silver medal in the under seven age group and a gold medal for the team championship.
